Common Materials and Advantages and Disadvantages of Glass Cups

Author:

1. Sodium calcium glass (ordinary glass)

Features: This is a common glass material made by high-temperature melting of raw materials such as quartz sand, soda ash, limestone, etc. Its price is cheap and its transparency is high.

Disadvantages: Relatively low strength, easy to break, and poor temperature resistance.

2. Borosilicate glass (heat-resistant glass)

Features: Boric acid is added to ordinary glass, making this glass have good heat resistance, wear resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance.

Advantages: It can be directly used for heating in microwaves or stoves, with high safety.

3. Crystal glass (lead-free crystal glass)

Features: By adding lead oxide or tin oxide to the glass material, but modern times tend to prefer lead-free formulas, making the glass have better refractivity and look more crystal clear.

Advantages: The appearance is more high-end, but after lead-free treatment, its safety has also been greatly improved.

4. Reinforced glass

Features: By treating ordinary glass through physical or chemical methods, the surface pressure is increased, thereby increasing the strength of the entire glass.

Advantages: More durable than ordinary glass, less prone to breakage, and even if broken, it presents small particles without sharp edges, reducing damage.
